Bronwyn Cook joined the History Council of Victoria in November 2018, representing the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria (HTAV).

Bronwyn is a secondary school teacher of History at Dandenong High School, and a director on the HTAV board. She has taught history for the past fifteen years in communities experiencing many socio-economic and literacy challenges and has co-authored several secondary school textbooks.. She is strongly committed to government school education, and especially supportive of strong history programs for those who experience social disadvantage. She believes that all students are entitled to, and equally capable of, high-quality history education outcomes even if there may be resource and other challenges in their lives. Caring, competent and passionate teachers are the key.

Bronwyn is passionate about History as a teacher and a learner. She holds a Masters in Education: Studies of Asia as well as a Graduate Certificate of Research, and a PhD, with research on “Shifting Depictions of the Vietnam War in Victorian Government Education Policies, Curriculum and Textbooks, 1975-2005”. She is a teaching associate and research assistant at Monash University.
