Are you a university student studying history and wondering what to do once you graduate? The History Council of Victoria has the event for you!
“The Past Is Your Future – Careers in History” will feature expert panellists from various areas of the history sector who have taken their tertiary studies in history and applied them to their post-university careers. The panel will include a Q&A and you can meet the panellists over afternoon tea.
This free event will be held at the Public Record Office, Victoria. As a special bonus, you are invited to a behind-the-scenes tour of the Public Record Office archives, and can explore the current exhibitions and displays.

Noor has worked in various writing and journalism roles. With experience writing news stories herself, she now edits for experts in academia to bring their stories to the readers of The Conversation.
MICHELLE FRACARO
Programs & Professional Development Manager at AMaGA Victoria; freelance arts administrator,
Michelle has over 24 years of experience in the Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums (GLAM) sector, where she has collaborated with leading institutions including the National Gallery of Australia, the Australian War Memorial, and the National Portrait Gallery, as well as non-profits, and commercial galleries. She also offers freelance services as an arts administrator, educator, project manager, producer, and creative director.
NICK HENDERSON
GLAM [Galleries, Libraries and Museums] professional; Committee Member and Collection Manager, Australian Queer Archives
Nick is a curator, archivist, producer and researcher, with over 25 years working across the GLAM, arts policy and programs, and community development sectors, including with the National Gallery of Australia, National Library of Australia, National Archives of Australia, Performing Arts Museum at Arts Centre Melbourne, the National Film and Sound Archive, and (as an 18-year volunteer) with the Australian Queer Archives.
STEPHANIE HOLT
Executive Officer, History Council of Victoria; freelance writer and editor.
Stephanie has over 35 years of experience in the publishing sector including with Meanjin, Overland and World Art magazines, as an editing teacher at Deakin and RMIT universities, and as a freelance writer and editor. Her editing specialty is Australian cultural and sporting history, and her current writing projects are family and local history. She also works part-time with the History Council of Victoria.
BARBARA MINCHINTON
Public Record Office Victoria.
Barbara is a historian and independent researcher. With her experience in the Public Record Office Victoria, she has worked with archaeologists to uncover histories of Melbourne – including the Little Lon District, which she is the author of ‘The Women of Little Lon’ and ‘Madame Brussels: The Life of Melbourne’s Most Notorious Woman,’ where she ventures into the lives of working-class and immigrant women of Melbourne’s past.
